| The Lake Tahoe Basin Allocation
Process
The
Tahoe Regional Planning
Agency (TRPA) determines the number of allocations to be made
available each year. El Dorado County’s level of compliance
with various environmental improvement criteria is a major factor
in the allocation number determination. The number of allocations
received is distributed as, 15% to the “West Shore” and
85% to the “South Shore”. TRPA
determines the release date of allocations and allocation notices
are mailed 2 weeks after release from TRPA. TRPA has released the number of allocations for 2009 and the county has sent an acknowledgement notice to the first 62 parcels on the list. Those with notices sent are no longer included on the usual Allocation Lists but can now be viewed on a second list of Allocation Notices Sent, along with the date the acknowledgement notice was sent. Persons on the second list will remain until the allocation has been awarded by TRPA. There are three options offered and depending on the results from the returned acknowledgement notices, more may be sent to person next on the Allocation list.
This year the Allocation award process has changed: Applicants having received an Allocation Notification letter, and wishing an allocation, must submit a complete building permit application to Building Services. They will then be given a certificate to be presented to TRPA. The allocation will then be sent to Building Services by TRPA once the permit application has been verified.
Those on the allocation list may be receiving more than one offering this year because of the present economy not allowing owners to build. You may request to go to the bottom of the list more than one time this year but will only be charged a fee for the first request.
