Recording FAQs

Question 1 - How do I go about recording a document?

Documents are recorded daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  You may bring your document into our office and it will be recorded while you wait.  We will mail the document back to you.  The standard recording fee for a document on regular size paper (8-1/2" X 11") is $7.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page.  If you prefer to mail your document into this office for recording, please call us at (530) 621-5490 to discuss recording requirements and fees.  All documents that are eligible to be recorded are recorded and indexed within two business days of receipt in this office.

Question 2 - Do I need an attorney to record a document?

No, although we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice before recording any document affecting title to property.
