Please contact us to make a reservation for school groups and other groups of 10 or more.

Take Highway 50 East to the first Placerville Drive exit.
Make a right onto Placerville Drive.
The Museum will be approximately ¼ mile on your right.

From Lake Tahoe:
Take Highway 50 West through Placerville to the Placerville Drive / Forni Road exit
(the second "Placerville Drive." exit)
Make a right onto Placerville Drive.
The Museum will be approximately ¼ mile on your right.

From Coloma:
Take route 49 south and turn right onto Highway 50.
Take the Placerville Dr. exit
The Museum will be approximately 2 miles on your left.

Sutter's Mill

  • Fountain Tallman Museum - Located in historic Placerville at 524 Main Street in the oldest surviving building. Owned and operated by the El Dorado County Historical Society. Open Weekends 12-4.
  • Gold Bug Park and Mine – One mile north of Highway 50 on Bedford Ave. in Placerville. Gold Bug Mine, stamp mill, museum, gift shop and gold panning. www.goldbugpark.org
  • Marshall Gold Discovery Site State Park – On Highway 49 in Coloma, 8 miles north of Placerville. Museum and saw mill at the site where James Marshall discovered gold www.marshallgold.org
