Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) can impact the health of a person throughout a lifetime. "Hope Lives 2008" is a new documentary film featuring real people in El Dorado County who have been affected in such a way. This 2008 one hour documentary is edited from nine hours of interviews with seven people. The focus is on ACE and the long term emotional and neurological impact of child abuse on mental health, addictions, hopelessness, and sometimes, unintended and subsequent infections such as HIV and HCV. "Hope Lives" was designed primarily for adult viewing. It is blunt and intense. It is intended for use with adults in jail, residential and out patient drug treatment, anger management classes, and other court mandated and voluntary groups. It is also an excellent training film for most professionals and volunteers working in human services. This includes teachers, foster parents, crisis line staff, medical office staff, medical service providers, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and others. This documentary was funded by the California Department of Public Health, Office of AIDS, HIV Community Prevention and Education Section. Since it was funded with taxpayers' money, you can burn DVD copies. We want this film to reach as many people as possible. Pass it on. To view or download the video click here.
