Administrative Services

The Administrative Services Division provides business and technical support to other divisions within the Sheriff's Office and is also "home" for the Assistant Public Administrator who is responsible for handling the estates of decedents who have no next of kin. The Fiscal Services Section is responsible for preparing and monitoring the annual budget, administering contracts, purchasing, accounts payable and payroll. The Technical Services Section is responsible for all computer operations for the Sheriff's Office, including the 911 system, a criminal records system that includes both in-field report writing and records management, a jail management system and numerous small systems for specific needs such as training records and civil processes. The Analytical Services Section conducts a wide variety of studies and in-depth reports for other divisions.

Technology at El Dorado County Sheriff's Office

Fiscal year 2000/2001 marked the conclusion of the 18-month project to develop and deploy the new integrated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.  Following the successful Field Reporting and Records Management systems, the new CAD system had many difficult challenges to overcome.  The new system puts several enhanced tools at the 911 dispatcher's finger tips, including more incident history, and access to prior events and reports.

The coming fiscal year brings ambitious plans to deploy a new Inmate Tracking system with video imaging and some wireless data access to the patrol  vehicles. The Sheriff's Office has applied for federal grant funding to enhance these systems. El Dorado County's mountainous terrain has made linking patrol vehicles to the main office for data communication particularly challenging.

Every effort will continue to put the best possible tools in the hands of the  deputies that keep El Dorado County safe.
