Information:
For offender custody information, call 1-877-331-8463 and follow the prompts. VINE will quickly tell the caller of the offender is still in custody. You may call the VINE from any touch-tone telephone, anytime, to check on an offender’s custody status.
Notification:
Callers may then choose to register for an automatic notification call when an offender has a custody change such as:
- Release
- Escape
- Transfer
- Unsupervised status
- Home Incarceration
- Work Release
To register, callers simply enter the phone number, including area code, where you want to be reached. You will then be asked to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for use during notification.
EL DORADO COUNTY VINE SERVICE- Questions and Answers
- How do I participate in the VINE Service?
To find an offender or register for notification, you must call the VINE Service directly from a touch-tone telephone. For assistance, call the VINE toll-free number and speak to an operator.
The PIN (Personal identification Number) is a four-digit number chosen by the caller to be used to stop notification calls from VINE. The PIN should be a number that is easy to remember. Entering a PIN is the only the only way to confirm and stop VINE Notification calls.
- What if I’m not at home or my telephone is busy when VINE calls?
The VINE service will keep trying to reach you. If there is no answer or the line is busy, VINE will continue to call every half hour for 24 hours. VINE will leave a message on an answering machine, but will continue to call every two hours up to a 24-hour period until a PIN is entered to stop the notification calls. Since VINE calls automatically when an offender’s custody status changes, notification calls may come in the middle of the night.
- Can I register more than one telephone number with VINE?
Yes. Your family, friends and other concerned persons may also check on offender status and register for notification. Each registration is separate and requires a PIN.
- Does VINE guarantee my safety?
The VINE service is designed to provide you with quick and easy access to offender information and to alert you when an offender’s custody status changes. Do not depend solely on VINE or any other single program for your safety.
- Which offenders are monitored by the VINE Service?
VINE monitors offenders housed in the El Dorado County Jail and several surrounding counties. For information on which counties are participating in VINE, call the toll free number and speak to an operator.
