Records

Normal business hours are Monday – Friday-  8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. (closed daily from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)  All services are provided from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

What do we do
Records Section maintains all reports initiated by the Sheriff’s Office; maintains records of bookings made throughout the County, and warrants issued by El Dorado County Courts; provides 24 hour criminal record research assistance to law enforcement.

Records is responsible for receiving, storing and dissemination of reports/information to authorized persons in compliance with local, state and federal laws.

View Daily Activity Logs
Theses reports are generatied daily and include information on selected incidents and arrests. The information is taken from initial Sheriff's Office reports. Not all incidents are selected due to investigative restrictions.

Requesting a copy of a report – fee $10.00 per report
Be advised that not all reports can be released from this agency. Release of information/copies regarding certain types of crimes is required by law; release of other types of reports is discretionary and the law prohibits release of some reports.

The public may request a copy of an incident report taken by the Sheriff’s Office. They may fill out the request form online and bring/or mail it to the Sheriff’s Office for processing or come in and fill one at the Records section window. We will respond within 10 working days.

Applicant Fingerprinting (Live Scan) fee depends on type of service - By appointment – call 621-5703
The records section performs Live Scan applicant fingerprinting Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM-10:30 AM for employment purposes, teaching and medical credentials, volunteer organizations, etc. 

Registrants – Sex, Narcotic, Arson and Gang – By appointment – call 621-5703
Subjects who have been classified as a Sex, Arson, Gang or drug Registrant are required by law to register with the law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over their place of residence.

Registration hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  This includes new registration, yearly registration, change of addresses etc. Please bring ID with you and provide us with the date and place of your conviction. Registration takes approximately 30 minutes. At that time you will be fingerprinted and photographed.

Clearance letter- fee $30.00 – By appointment-call 621-5703
A clearance letter is a criminal history check on you for any arrest (we release only El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office arrest information, no other agencies arrest information will be provided).  You will need to complete the form provided on line or you can pick one up at the record counter.  Bring it with you to your appointment at the Sheriff’s office, have a valid ID and pay the fee and a letter will be provided at that time.  If a criminal history record exists, it will be listed and it will be your responsibility to obtain a disposition.

Local criminal history - $10.00 – By appointment-call 621-5703
Subjects may request a copy of their local criminal history (El Dorado Sheriff’s arrests only will be provided). You will be required to come in person with the completed form, show a valid ID and pay the fee before the request will be processed.  The request may take up to 10 days to process. 

Permits-New and Renewal – By appointment – call 621-5703- fee depends on type of services.  These services are provided on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM.

    permit, you need to complete the appropriate application and submit it for approval.

Megan’s Law – sex offender information
The California Department of Justice has publicly released its searchable Megan’s Law database. This site will provide you with access to information on more than 63,000 required to register in California as sex offenders. Specific home addresses are displayed on more than 33,500 offenders in the California communities; as to these persons, the site displays the last registered address reported by the offender. An additional 30, 500 offenders are included on the site with listing by ZIP Code, city, and county. Information on approximately 22,000 other offenders is not included on this site, but is known to law enforcement personnel. Click the link for access. http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/

Warrants
We do not confirm warrants to the public over the phone. You may come to the Sheriff’s office jail or the record section, present current photo identification and ask for a warrant check for yourself or contact your local court.
